Perspective Drawing

Over half term we were tasked with making a perspective drawing for practice with drawing techniques. I focused on keeping proportions and shading accurate. Picking a few objects from around the house with varied shapes and sizes, I started drawing. At first, I tried using the 'pencil measuring' technique from our art lessons, but found this too clunky and ineffective. Ditching the technique, I began drawing outlines of each object - using my own judgement for the scale. This worked out quite well and each object look relatively life like in terms of scale and shape.

Now onto shading. I tried to translate the dark areas between each object into the drawing, which worked decently well. I didn't use cross hatching or other techniques as I thought they would not look great and I wasn't able to make it look good. One thing I found challenging was creating tone on a dark object. I used a black helmet as one of my objects. The problem I found was that it was difficult to show different light levels on a black object. I settled on shading the whole object, applying harder and darker shade to areas that needed it. This turned out alright, but the edges became a bit undefined as they blended with the shadows I had drawn under it.
