Star Wars Tie Fighter Model
We were tasked with modeling, UVing and texturing a model based on Star Wars. I went with a Tie Fighter. This was our first attempt at a model without any prior instruction and a test of what we had learned so far.
I made a simple version to start with using basic shapes and tools. I created edge loops around two cuboids and pulled the edges to create the wing panel shapes. I beveled the panels to create the border around the edge.
To create the object in the center I copied the wing panel and scaled it down, and used a pipe for the octagon in the middle. The details on the wings were made using cuboids that I scaled into long triangle shapes, copying and rotating them to cover the whole thing. I then repeated this process on the other side of the wing.

Once I was done with the model, I moved on to UV. I mostly used automatic UV, making small snips and adjustments to areas that didn't scale right. I then used the layout tool in the UV toolkit to fit it all together neatly.
I then manually adjusted the size of the shells to ensure they were large enough to create a high quality texture in Substance Painter. My UVs were a bit messy but it is clear enough to see which parts are the main components.
After trying to put the model into Substance Painter I realized that there were a lot of issues with it.
