Imagined Worlds Animation

For my Imagined Worlds modeling project I wanted to add some animation. I had already modeled some wires that I wanted to sway in the wind, but I also added a large banner that I animated. When researching this I discovered nCloth in the FX menu. This is a cloth physics simulator built into Maya. I could add nCloth to any object and it would be simulated as cloth. I added this to the wires and at first they simply floated through the ground. I found that I had to create passive colliders in the nConstraint menu. This added an attribute to an object that prevented nCloth objects from passing through it. I could stick vertices on the cloth object inside a collider using the nConstraint > Point to Surface.

Summary:

- FX Workspace

- nCloth > Create nCloth

- nConstraint > Create Passive Collider

- Select vertices and collider object

- nConstraint > Point to Surface

I applied the same process to the banner and was very pleased with the effect. I learned from this that I could also use nCloth for static models. I applied some wind to both the banner and the wires.
