Intellectual Property is a creation such as writing, video, image etc that is protected by law (copyright, patent, trademark) to allow it's creator to have recognition and financial benefit from it.

Copyright law oringinated in England in 1709 - the current act being created in 1988. It gives the creator of media the rights to control how their creation is used. This includes literacy, drama, music, art, magazines, sound and film. Copyright law is a right to everyone and is automatically enforced on any new creation. It must be original and show a degree of work, skill or judgement. Any work created under a company is owned by the company rather than the employee.

Copyright is important to consider for GAVFX developers as they must ensure their work is original to avoid legal issues. It also prevents other developers from stealing ideas or even publishing work as their own.
